In the bustling roman walled town of Caerleon you will find a traditional piece of Italian life…
Bar Piazza
Rich, heady coffee, golden brown warm pastries and exceedingly naughty handmade cakes. Thick homemade milk shakes, and creamy locally sourced ice creams. Not to mention the freshly made baguettes, paninis and sandwiches.
A jolly smile and an inviting atmosphere will drag you helplessly, through the door into a spacious and a shabby chic decorated meeting place.
Marco and Bekky Attorre, opened the second addition to the Bar Piazza family in September of this year.
Marcos parents, Mandy and Angelo, continue to run the Newport Friars Walk shop, which they opened in 1999.
Both eateries offer traditional Italian food, and with no formal training, its just a passion for good wholesome food which is their basis for every recipe.
Marco and Bekky didn’t just want to launch another coffee shop in Caerleon, they are also open on a Friday and Saturday evenings until 10pm where you can slip away dreamily to a romantic holiday and sip on beautifully selected wines, a glass of Prosecco, or perhaps one of their many new cocktails.
Why not accompany this with an antipasti or bruschetta board, a perfect way to relax, unwind and catch up with friends.
If this isn’t enough the deli shop is full of delicious foods from biscuits and savouries to cheeses, fresh Italian sausages, Italian wines and spirits to take away .
However, while you’re there you may as well sit back, order my favourite, a warm cinnamon Danish and a delicious cup of coffee and watch the world glide by.
For your chance to cook a traditional Italian recipe, keep reading Living Wales Magazine, and you will find one from Marco, a little further along.
