Valentines Day #LoveLocal

Local Buys and Delights For Valentines Day

Who needs more than a card idea for Valentines Day?

Just 10 days to get it right.

The 14th of February is a day some women get disappointed on due to over expectations, and men are scared. Well so they say.

I have been guilty of the ‘don’t get me anything’ and then was totally disappointed in what I had….nothing, and my other half hates cards!! Yet I seem to be determined to buy him one every year. In all honesty, and between you and me, I like giving a card, and have in the past bought from local shops or on a website like moonpig, trying to achieve the best, and alternatively personalized card possible. And still it fails to impress.

This year we are getting each other a gift, and no card. And yes I shall stick to it.

I am a huge fan of different gifts and whereas I can’t divulge my rather odd and quirky gift, in case he reads this, I can make some suggestions for you guys and gals, locally and a bargain online.

For flowers I know that a locally based company Dear Valentina Florist, are doing a wide range of elegant bouquets, and arrangements, enough to wow anyone! Kirsty has teamed up with Sophie Bee Bakehouse as well this Valentines. Delicious hand crafted chocolates to accompany your flowers. Mmmmmm not sure they’d get to my other half.

If you’re  looking to spend some quality time together how about a mini break. The Parkway Hotel and Spa, Cwmbran, is always a super place to turn to, for an afternoon tea or perhaps a couples spa retreat just £160 for dinner bed and breakfast including a hot stone massage, or perhaps you’d like to have dinner out on the night with a 3 course meal, entertainment and a bottle of wine for just £45 per person.

Or how about a cozy night in ?! The Mediterranean Grazing Company has living room picnics sorted. A healthier take away, boxes filled with delicious treats, meats, cheeses, pate, crackers, seasonal fruits, olives all delivered with love. Check out their Facebook page @themediterraneangrazingcompany and book your delivery slot.

There are many other local pubs and restaurants promising a lovely evening of romance combined with great food and atmosphere. It’s always worth following our Facebook page as we try and share as much as we possibly can. Come along and like us @livingwales .

Usk and Abergavenny have a growing high street and along with the beautiful coffee shops there are many shops that you may find something a little different. How about a piece of jewellery from The Copper Tree on Bridge Street Usk or Jefferies Fine Jewellers, The Parade Cwmbran, or perhaps a elegantly scented candle from No.49,  Usk , or Cane and Able  Cwmbran Town Centre.

Or how about a day trip. Llandegfedd Resevoir New Inn have some stunning walks and all can be finished off with a hot cup of chocolate and a freshly made scone. Big Pit is free and Blaenavon, and together you could learn of the history of your surrounding area.

In Brynmawr the other side of the valley, lies a main street full of different shops. Tuttabella is based here and Monmouth. This shop is likened to Aladdin’s cave. Filled with interesting gift ideas, cards, bags, and jewellery, and Draig Homeware is also based in Brynmawr and has a wide selection of candles, plaques, photo frames. Both shops have a super staff who’d be more than happy to assist and recommend.

However you chose to celebrate Valentines day, or what gift or card you hand select for your other half, always remember that it’s time together that is most important.

Happy Valentines Day

Love Hattie xx
